Tim is a writer, performer and director.

As a writer he is currently under commission to the Routledge.

Other current projects include adapter and director of THE COMPLETE DEATHS for Spymonkey (opening May 2016), the tenth anniversary revival of AN OAK TREE (National Theatre, Traverse Theatre & tour) and director of JERAMEE, HARTLEBY AND OOGLEMORE (by Gary Owen) opening at the Unicorn Theatre in February 2016.  He still performs his solo pieces I, MALVOLIO and I, PEASEBLOSSOM, as well as his commission for the Almeida Festival (written and performed with Andy Smith) - WHAT HAPPENS TO THE HOPE AT THE END OF THE EVENING.

His play ADLER & GIBB opened at the Royal Court Theatre in 2014.  Co-commissioned by the Centre Theatre Group in LA, plans are in development for a tour in 2016.

In 2012 Tim wrote and directed I, CINNA (THE POET) as part of the RSC's World Shakespeare Festival, which played at the Swan Theatre and in Columbus, Ohio.  It was also filmed and broadcast into schools.  He edited and directed KING LEAR for the RSC's Encounter project (which toured the UK, New York and Ohio and was filmed) and the previous year edited and directed THE TAMING OF THE SHREW for the same project.

His play, THE AUTHOR,  enjoyed a successful run at the Royal Court and toured in the UK and abroad throughout 2010 and 2011. It shared the John Whiting Award in 2010.

His play for galleries, ENGLAND, was critically acclaimed at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, where it won a Fringe First, Herald Archangel and a Total Theatre Award. Tim was also awarded with a Herald Archangel for his body of work at Edinburgh over the years.

Tim's second play for adults, AN OAK TREE, opened at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, in 2005. It was winner of a Glasgow Herald Angel award. Tim also won Best Male Performer for the play at the Brighton Festival in 2006. AN OAK TREE uses a different second actor at each performance.  AN OAK TREE won a Special Citation Obie from its run at the Barrow Street Theater, New York, in 2006/7.  It was broadcast on the BBC World Service in 2007.

Tim's first play, MY ARM, premiered at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, in 2003. It has since run in London (at BAC) and New York (59E59) as part of Brits Off Broadway. Tim's adaptation of MY ARM for BBC Radio 3 won the 2005 Prix Italia for Best Adapted Drama.

For the Brighton Festival, he has written and performed a series of four solo plays for younger audiences based on minor characters from Shakespeare: I, CALIBAN, I PEASEBLOSSOM, I, BANQUO and I, MALVOLIO.  These pieces have toured extensively.

Tim has also written for the National Theatre. His play, SHOPPING FOR SHOES, was commissioned by their Educational Department and has toured the UK. In 2006, he completed a commission for the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, the Theatre Royal, York and the Polka Theatre, KASPAR THE WILD, which was written for primary school children to perform as part of the Playhouse Scheme.

Tim is published by Faber & Faber and Oberon Books.

I, SHAKESPEARE is published by Oberon Books and comprises I, MALVOLIO; I, BANQUO; I, CALIBAN and I, PEASEBLOSSOM.
