Sarah trained at Cambridge University, the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, on the Regional Theatres Young Directors Scheme (West Yorkshire Playhouse 2003-2005) and on the BBC Drama Directors Academy (2006). She was a Clore Leadership Fellow 2010/11, mentored by Sir Richard Eyre.  

Her adaptation of Agatha Christie'sThe Secret Adversary toured nationally in 2015, and was remounted in 2016 at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, under its new title, Partners in Crime.  Partners in Crime was nominated for 2016 Offie Awards for Best Director, Best Design and Best Lighting Design, whilst her production of The Box of Photographs at the Polka Theatre was nominated for Best Production for Young People.  

Sarah was Artistic Director of The Dukes Lancaster (www.dukes-lancaster.org) 2017-2019, where she developed co-production relationships with partners including Tobacco Factory Theatres, Tamasha Theatre, Red Ladder and the New Vic, Newcastle-under-Lyme.
