Amy is a BAFTA‑nominated writer and director based between London and Edinburgh. Known for her meticulous eye and bold visual style, she has earned acclaim for crafting “squirm‑worthy” thriller sequences, “exquisite performances,” and “rewind‑able” action set‑pieces. She most recently directed the final episodes of the political thriller HOSTAGE, written by Matt Charman for Netflix/Binocular Productions and starring Julie Delpy and Suranne Jones.
Amy began her career in Tokyo while studying Film and Japanese at Nihon University. Her early work screened at major international festivals and received multiple awards, including BAFTA and BIFA nominations and a Scottish BAFTA win for her debut film CAN’T STOP BREATHING, described by Alan Rickman as “a twelve‑minute masterclass.” Further shorts include ICICLE MELT, starring Greta Scacchi and shot in Sweden, and THE CHILD, adapted from the short story by award‑winning author Ali Smith.
Her television credits include the critically acclaimed BBC One thriller THE CONTROL ROOM for Hartswood Films, the action‑drama HANNA for Working Title Television/Amazon/NBC, and the finale of the BBC thriller TRUST ME, starring Jodie Whittaker.
Amy gravitates toward genre, with a particular interest in thrillers, action, psychological horror, and the female grotesque. A collaborative storyteller, she is developing several television projects alongside her debut feature film AFTER MARTHA, a psychological horror supported by BFI/Creative England and Screen Scotland.
She is represented in the US by Jon Cassir, Praveen Pandian and Wilhelmina Ross at CAA.
