Gareth Armstrong's ROUND ABOUT HOGARTH to open at Tabard Theatre

The Tabard Theatre will premiere Gareth Armstrong’s new play ROUND ABOUT HOGARTH from 4 – 21 February 2026, bringing to life the fiery, funny clash between eighteenth‑century greats William Hogarth and David Garrick.

The play explores the unlikely friendship between the celebrated painter and the era’s most influential actor, whose competing artistic loyalties spark a witty battle of egos. As their rivalry unfolds, the pair reveal their passions, tensions and shared love of good wine in a sharply observed, humorous portrait of two men who shaped their age.

An acclaimed actor, director and playwright, Gareth Armstrong is also a founding director of Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre. He returns to the Tabard following previous premieres including A CRITICAL STAGE and FONDLY REMEMBERED, while his award‑winning SHYLOCK continues to tour internationally to great acclaim.

ROUND ABOUT HOGARTH runs at the Tabard Theatre from 4–21 February 2026. Tickets are available here
