Katie Schofield is a northern writer and actor, based in London. She originally trained at RADA, before expanding her practice as both a screenwriter and playwright. She enjoys creating female-led work that explores far-reaching issues within intimate settings. She previously worked with Tall Story Productions, in association with ITV/ITVX's Disabled Writers' in Development Scheme, on her original TV series idea KINSHIP. Her credits include writing for BBC Sounds and CBBC, with an episode of Tales from Malory Towers for King Bert Productions. On the theatre front, her debut play was a finalist for the ETPEP Award in association with the Finborough Theatre. She has also been longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize, RSC 37 Plays, Theatre Uncut Political Playwriting Award, and Theatre503 International Playwriting Award. Katie was a top-ten applicant in the Northern SISTER Breakthrough Writers’ Scheme, and is a proud alumnus of the Royal Court Playwriting Group. Her debut short film Stork Bite, was a recent finalist in the Academy Award-winning production company 'Slick Film Fund' competition. Most recently, Katie founded Brick Mill Productions, a production company dedicated to championing working-class, female-led narratives and her original thriller series ‘In His Own Image’ is being considered by Stephen Graham’s ‘Matriarch Productions’, as in the top 5% for the Grass Routes Prize (unrepresented at the time of entry).
