Victoria Saxton

Victoria Saxton is a writer and dramaturg with an expertise in new musical theatre. Her dramaturgy clients call her the 'musical whisperer' and range across Broadway, Off Broadway and UK touring producers and writers. Victoria has worked with writers who are produced at the National Theatre, the RSC, The Globe as well as The Public Theatre, Vineyard and NYTW. Victoria was Executive Director of Mercury Musical Developments from 2015-2019 co-creating and co-producing BEAM2016 & 2018 - the UK's largest showcase of New British Musical Theatre.

Victoria also ran and bolstered many new writing initiatives such as the Stilest Drewe Mentorship Award, The Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Scheme and Musical Bites. She helped facilitate and run the National Theatre's New Musical Theatre Group and designed and led a Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, which is still going strong. She is currently co-leading the Birmingham Hippodrome's new Musical Theatre Writers Group.

As a writer, select and recent work include: TV feature films for Reel One Ents, a children's musical with CBeebies star Nick Cope for the North Wall Theatre/David Luff Productions, and several audio dramas for Big Finish Productions which are now available on Audible. She is also working on a book about the dramaturgy of new musicals for Bloomsbury Publishing, alongside various other writing projects.

Victoria gained an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, an MA in Creative Writing at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire and also trained at the Royal Court Young Writers Programme.
