Hania Elkington is an award-winning British screenwriter who has created, written and executive produced two major, original dramas for Netflix and Amazon, while also being part of writers’ rooms and contributing episodes for Apple+.
Hania is known for her emotionally rich, character-driven storytelling that often explores themes of identity, power, and transformation, particularly through challenging female narratives. Hania’s skill lies in combining provocative subject matter with entertaining drama, which rewards its audience while also demanding that we think for ourselves.
A Screen International Star of Tomorrow, Hania has twice topped The Brit List and gained international recognition for THE INNOCENTS (2018), a supernatural romance series for Netflix; and FIFTEEN-LOVE (2023), a critically acclaimed Amazon Prime series that explores trust, power and obsession in the world of Grand Slam tennis.
Hania has written leading roles for Guy Pearce, Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston, Aidan Turner and Ella Lily Hyland in stories that marry emotional depth with epic scale and propulsive, urgent themes. With the defiant, modern and unexpected lens she sets onto human behaviour, Hania is fast becoming one of the most sought-after writers in the UK, both for her original ideas and her bold approach to adaptation.
THE INNOCENTS:
DAILY TELEGRAPH: A riveting, slow-burning supernatural drama… it is to the credit of writers Elkington and Duric that it ripples with such dread.
INDIEWIRE: The Innocents is the very height of delicious, meaty melodrama - served up by stunning performances.
THE DAILY DOT: The Innocents is one of the best Netflix Originals to date.
FIFTEEN-LOVE:
THE GUARDIAN (Lucy Mangan): The acting in this impeccably tense drama is absolutely mesmerising.
NEW YORK TIMES: This tense tennis treat balances sports sudsiness with prickly, fraught drama about sex, maturity, consent and power.
IRISH EXAMINER: Fifteen-Love is the show of the summer and Ella Lily Hyland is a revelation. If you like pacey drama that shifts through the gears, with ambiguous characters that make you wonder who the bad guy is, then this is the show for you.
