Toronto International Film Festival Announce First Wave of 2016 Line-Up

Programmers for TIFF have announced the first wave of its 2016 line-up, with United Agents talent already featuring strongly across the Galas and Special Presentations. 

Films that will have their world premieres at the festival currently include:

- Amma Asante's A UNITED KINGDOM, starring Rosamund Pike and Laura Carmichael, and co-edited by Jonathan Amos, which was also recently announced as the Opening Film for this year's London Film Festival

- Pete Travis's CITY OF TINY LIGHTS, written by Patrick Neate and starring Branko Tomovic and Jake FairbrotherDavid Charap lends his skills as Editor, with Nicole Stafford overseeing Hair & Make-up and Victor Molero across Production Design 

- Ewan McGregor's feature directorial debut AMERICAN PASTORAL, which he also stars in alongside Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning. Director of Photography is Martin Ruhe 

- Baltasar Kormakur's THE OATH, which he co-wrote with Ólafur Egilsson

- Gareth Jennings's animation feature SING, starring Taron Egerton and Jennifer Saunders alongside Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey

- J.A. Bayona's A MONSTER CALLS, with Lewis MacDougall leading a cast which includes Sigourney Weaver and Liam Neeson. Costume Design is by Steven Noble with Hair & Make-up designed by Marese Langan 

- Mick Jackson's DENIAL, starring Andrew Scott and Jackie Clune, with Justine Wright as Editor

- Christopher Guest's MASCOTS, starring Tom Bennett and Kerry Godliman alongside Parker Posey and Jane Lynch

- Bronwen Hughes's THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION, starring James Alexander-Gracie alongside Ben Schnetzer and Kelly Macdonald

- Mark Williams's THE HEADHUNTER'S CALLING, starring Anupam Kher alongside Gerard Butler and Willem Dafoe

- Juan Carlos Medina's THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM, with Grant Stewart Montgomery as Production Designer and starring Bill Nighy and Eddie Marsan

- Lone Scherfig's THEIR FINEST, with Make-up & Hair Design by Lizzie Yianni Georgiou and starring Sam Claifin and Gemma Arterton 

- Adam Smith's TRESPASS AGAINST US, with Costume Design by Suzanne Cave and starring Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson

 

Those that will be having their North American premieres at the festival currently include Nick Hamm's THE JOURNEY, starring Toby Stephens and Catherine McCormack, and Martin KoolHoven's BRIMSTONE, which sees Kit Harrington star alongside Dakota Fanning and Guy Pierce. 

 

Benedict Andrews's UNA, with Jan Sewell as Hair & Make-up Designer, Steven Noble as Costume Designer and Jed Kurzel as Composer, will receive its Canadian premiere at the festival.
