Vicky is co-Founder and co-Artistic Director of DryWrite (with Phoebe Waller-Bridge). With DryWrite, she has commissioned and directed short plays from some of the country’s leading new writing talent, including Joe Penhall, Chloe Moss, Simon Stephens, Terry Johnson, Jack Thorne, Lucy Kirkwood, Ella Hickson, James Graham, Penelope Skinner and Mike Bartlett amongst many others. The company have performed regular shows at theatres including Soho Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, York Theatre Royal, Liverpool Everyman, Trafalgar Studios and The Roundhouse. She originally commissioned and directed Simon Stephens’s monologue T5 at The Roundhouse, since published by Methuen, translated and performed all over Europe.

Her premiere production of Jack Thorne's MYDIDAE opened to critical acclaim and sold out its 2012 run at Soho Theatre, subsequently transferring to Trafalgar Studio 2 in the West End in 2013 (5 stars WhatsOnStage, 4 stars Evening Standard, Independent on Sunday, Metro, Sunday Express).

Her premiere production of James Graham’s THE TOUR GUIDE was a much-acclaimed hit of the 2011 Edinburgh Festival (5 stars Edinburgh Evening News, The List, Scotsman.com; 4 stars The Independent, WhatsOnStage, Scotsman; ‘a fascinating production... carries the baton for innovative site-specific theatre’ FEST).

Vicky trained on the Royal Court/Channel 4 Young Directors scheme, the Gate Theatre Trainee Directors scheme, the National Theatre Studio Directors course and by assisting Katie Mitchell, Terry Johnson, Erica Whyman, Joe Hill-Gibbons and Patrick Marber amongst others.

As a writer, Vicky's first play, THE ONE, won the 2013 Verity Bargate Award (from over 800 entrants). Vicky worked on the TV version of FLEABAG, other TV credits include the multi award winning KILLING EVE and the Royal Court/ BBC 4 series of monologues SNATCHES. Vicky's episode BOVRIL PAM was nominated for a BAFTA in 2019.

Vicky is currently the National Theatre's Playwright in Residence and has an original TV series in development with eOne & HBO.

PRESS
Vicky Jones's deft production is full of lovely little touches and there is a wonderful quality of stillness to much of the action.
Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard on MYDIDAE

A curiously magical spectacle. Vicky Jones's production is so real there are moments you feel embarrassed to be present.
Robert Shore, Metro on MYDIDAE

In Vicky Jones's immaculate production, performances [are] of the highest calibre.
Whatsonstage on MYDIDAE

Jones treads skilfully through this structural and tonal labyrinth, all the more admirably for having to compact it on to such a small stage.
Ian Shuttleworth, Financial Times on THE FREEDOM OF THE CITY at the Finborough

DryFight was perfect festival fare - loud, bawdy, in-yer-face and more than a little bit dirty. My highlight.
Whatsonstage on DRYFIGHT at Latitude.

Vicky Jones’s steely production.  Gets you by the neck and gives you a jolly good shake.
Lyn Gardner, Guardian on THE FREEDOM OF THE CITY

Of all the ADD-friendly shows at the festival, this one takes the prize. I also enjoyed it so much I'm sure I ruptured something. Ingeniously simple.
British Theatre Guide on DRYFIGHT

A fascinating production. Carries the baton for innovative site-specific theatre.
FEST Magazine on THE TOUR GUIDE

One of the most surprising and memorable shows at this year's Fringe.
Alice Jones, The Independent on THE TOUR GUIDE

The excellent DryWrite have established themselves with some cleverly themed and curated events. At their best they form a crucial dialogue between artists and allow a new sense of the possible. The success that a number of their writers are now starting to enjoy in mainstream theatres with work that remains formally innovative is an early testament to the excellence of the concept.
