Spencer is a comedian, actor, and writer, who has been nominated twice for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and for multiple BAFTAs.

Spencer’s BBC Comedy Short, THE MIND OF HERBERT CLUNKERDUNK - which he wrote the music for, starred in and wrote - received rave reviews and a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Form Programme. Watch it here. Following the success of the short, the BBC commissioned a four part series of THE MIND OF HERBERT CLUNKERDUNK. The series aired on BBC Two in August 2019,and was quickly commissioned for a second second series which aired in January 2022. Both received equally rapturous reviews.

'It’s an insanely funny piece of work.' ★★★★★ Chortle

'Who would have thought struggling to invent a jingle for a cab company or recording an audition tape for a role in a musical could be so funny?' The Guardian

Spencer created, wrote and directed several episodes of the brand new comedy series DEEP FAKE NEIGHBOUR WARS – which landed on ITVX on the 26th January 2023. Using Deep Fake technology, the show turns the UK’s best new impressionists into the world’s most famous celebrities – only here they are ordinary people who happen to be embroiled in petty silly neighbour disputes.

In 2020, Spencer played the title role of Leslie Winner in the six part BBC Two / BBC Studios comedy series, MISTER WINNER, starring alongside Lucy Pearman and Shaun Williamson.

Spencer’s latest live show THE THINGS WE LEAVE BEHIND was nominated for 2019 Edinburgh Comedy Award and has since had a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre. See below for reviews. The Telegraph wrote of the show - “This good-natured comedy is just the tonic we need right now.”

He played the regular role of William Kempe in Ben Elton's hit show, UPSTART CROW, for three series. He also wrote and starred in a pilot, THE JONAH MAN, for Cave Bear and Sky One.

Spencer was a writer and star of BBC's show BIG BABIES, which won him his first BAFTA nomination. He has multiple scripted projects in development with various prestigious production companies.

His 2016 short film, SPENCER JONES'S CHRISTMAS, was produced by Cave Bear and Tiger Aspect for Sky Comedy's Christmas Shorts. It won Best Scripted Online Short at that year’s Broadcast Digital Awards.

Spencer has made various comedy appearances on shows such as Channel Four’s CATS DOES COUNTDOWN, HARRY HILL’S CLUB NITE and BBC’s LIVE AT THE APOLLO. Watch Spencer’s 2019 performance on HARRY HILL’S CLUB NITE here.

Reviews for Spencer's 2017 live show, THE AUDITION, which was Spencer’s first show to be nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award.

" With his adorable character and surprises from beginning to end, Jones is, without a doubt, a "must-see". ★★★★★ Comedy Reviewer

"An excellent performer, a professional clown. A real master of physical comedy and clowning." ★★★★★ Broadway Baby

"We know Spencer Jones is a master of clowning around with props, but he’s fast evolving into a triple/quadruple/quintuple threat comedian, a man who can extract laughs in many different ways – songs, sketches, anecdotes, crowdwork – all wrapped up with a pathos-flecked childish daftness. He’s one of the Fringe’s purest comic talents." ★★★★★ The Wee Review

Spencer's 2016 live comedy show, THE HERBERT IN EGGY BAGEL, received amazing reviews:

"There are officially 1,170 comedy shows in this year’s Fringe, and countless more not in the programme. But there is only one like Spencer Jones’s." ✭✭✭✭1/2 (4.5 stars) Chortle

"No other Fringe show will put a bigger smile on your face" ✭✭✭✭ Evening Standard

"Eggy Bagel is an hour of joyful, inoffensive silliness which could tickle the coldest of hearts." ✭✭✭✭ The Skinny

"Only those with the stoniest of hearts could fail to fall for The Herbert.✭✭✭✭ The List

Spencer’s amazing 2015 show, SPENCER JONES IS THE HERBERT IN PROPER JOB had fantastic reviews and won Best Fringe Show and Best Performer at The Comedians’ Choice Award as well as having a week's sell out run at the Soho Theatre with this "joyful hour of goofery". ‘Gloriously hilarious’ (Chortle.co.uk)
