Costume Designer Sophie O’Neill grew up in London, graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2012 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Costume Design for Performance. 

Sophie first established herself as a Costume Buyer and Assistant Costume Designer working on several internationally acclaimed and award winning feature films such as ‘Everest’ for Baltasar Kormakur, ‘Stan & Ollie’ for Jon S. Baird and ‘The Selfish Giant’, which marked her first collaboration with Clio Barnard.

Following time as an Assistant Costume Designer on ‘The King’s Man’ for Matthew Vaughn, ‘The Secret Garden’ for Marc Munden and ‘Mamma Mia! Here we go Again’ for Ol Parker, Sophie designed her first feature, the much anticipated ‘Ali & Ava’ which saw its UK premiere at the 2021 London Film Festival. Collaborating once again with director Clio Barnard, ‘Ali & Ava’ stars Adeel Akhtar and Claire Rushbrook and was produced by Moonspun Films, BBC Films and the BFI.

Since then, Sophie has designed feature film ‘The Outfit’ for director Graham Moore at Filmnation and 'Sky Peal' for dir Moin Hussain, which is premiering at the BFI London Film Festival 2023. 

Most recently Sophie designed feature film 'Hot Milk' for director Rebecca Lenkiewicz, starring Emma Mackey and Fiona Shaw.
