Susannah Wise grew up in London and the Midlands. She is the author of two previous novels, This Fragile Earth and Okay Then That’s Great (both published by Gollancz/Orion). Both were longlisted for the Mslexia Award.

Ronald Arbuthnott Knox (1888-1957) was an English priest, theologian and author of detective stories. He was also a writer and a regular broadcaster for BBC Radio. He won several scholarships at Balliol College, Oxford.
