Samir Asran Rahman has never been the same since he tumbled headlong into a giant cardboard box full of comics and cartoons, in a dusty attic, at a very impressionable age. The experience left an indelible impression on him with all the subtlety of a cartoon sledgehammer.
Years later, while dreaming of becoming a writer and also working in film, fate or rather the muppets intervened: The Sesame Workshop invited him to write and direct animated shorts for a Bangladeshi version of Sesame Street. The thrill of working with artists and animators led him to found Mighty Punch Studios, from where he created his own original superhero comics and a slate of animated shorts.
More recently, Samir has been developing a handful of new projects aimed at 8-12 year-olds. His fantasy comedy-action animated series Team Dalim -- a reimagining of Bangladeshi fairy tale characters -- quickly attracted co-development partners, and in 2025 he was selected to share his work at Film London’s Upstream IP showcase. He is currently working on a bunch of new graphic novels, including one inspired by him being an annoying backseat video gamer to his 8-year-old daughter.
