Nicola Killen

Children's Author/Illustrator

Add to shortlist

Nicola Killen worked in the greetings industry for several years before embarking on an MA in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art.  She signed her first book deal while still on the course and was awarded the Egmont Best New Talent Award for her graduation show. Since then Nicola has been writing and illustrating picture books, board books and a few pop-up books too.

Nicola lives and works in Cambridge, and still loves drawing as much as she did when she was little, when a sketchpad, a pack of felt tips and a Blue Peter Annual were always top of her Christmas list.  Animals, ceramic figurines and people on trains are some of her favourite subjects!

Career highlights have included Julia Donaldson choosing 'Fluff and Billy' as one of her books of the year in the Guardian, and watching actor Damian Lewis read 'I Got a Crocodile' on Cbeebies Bedtime Stories.
