Books

Nicola Kent is an award-winning author and illustrator of children's books for ages 0-7. These include novelty board books, picture books, non-fiction picture books and her early chapter book series, Cat and Dumpling. In 2019, Nicola won the Independent Booksellers' Best New Illustrator Award. Since then, she's won the Mathical Book Prize for Preschoolers and been a finalist in the Teach Primary Book Awards. She's also been longlisted for the UKLA Book Prize, shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards and highly commended in the Macmillan Prize. Nicola's books have been published in over 20 languages.

 Before her career in children’s books, Nicola worked for ten years as a TV producer on programmes including the BBC’s Picasso and Cezanne seasons, Poetry Nation, The BBC Design Awards, The History of a House, He’s Having a Baby and many more. She’s also written for children’s animation series The Cramp Twins. Nicola grew up in north London and now lives in Hackney with her family, dog and cat and a very untidy desk.
