Matt puts humour into everything he does and his books are filled with quirky details for keen eyes to spot. He spent his youth scribbling characters and creating worlds in ink and paint, but it was while studying Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art where his love of children’s books really took off.

Matt’s first picture book, ‘Super Stan’, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize and ‘Do You Love… Bugs?, part of the very successful ‘Do you Love…?’ non-fiction series, won the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Award in 2020. Matt’s books have been translated into numerous languages and are enjoyed around the world.

He lives in the wilds of the Norfolk with his wife, and his cat Charlie, who can normally be found asleep under his desk. Matt enjoys long morning bike rides, listening to the noisy owls at night and sitting in his greenhouse impatiently waiting for this plants to grow.
