George is a writer and actor, based in the UK.

George grew up in a housing cooperative in Leeds and his first great love was food (early favourites were Indian sweets and taramasalata). His passion for imaginary play was heavily influenced by the pervading air of northern '80s socialism, which saw him and his younger brother becoming coalminers, librarians or holding meetings for the local council with an imaginary colleague called Margaret. Thrilling stuff.

After studying drama at the University of Exeter, George moved to London to be an actor. His first professional gig was playing The Grinch in a travelling pantomime. Since then he’s been lucky enough to play elves (in Netflix’s The Witcher), vampires (in ITV’s Count Abdulla) and the odd human (in Bridgerton and The Buccaneers). He’s also worked extensively on participatory performances for young audiences in schools around the UK.

As a writer, George trained on Arvon’s Young Adults Fiction course, tutored by Tanya Byrne and Bali Rai, and Faber’s Writing a Novel course, tutored by Nikesh Shukla. He’s drawn to outsider characters, vivid and strange worlds, niche cultural scenes, humour, books about food, and, most crucially, stories that are loads of fun. His teen fantasy-adventure was shortlisted for The Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition 2025.

Occasionally, George relaxes. When he does he likes to play games (boardgames/TTRPGs/video games), bake bread, watch Leeds United, and travel across London with his partner Suzy, seeking out new international cuisines.
