Biography

Tim is a BAFTA nominated actor, writer and comedian.

Co-creater, co-writer and star of BBC narrative comedy series JERK, series one was released on BBC Three in April 2019 and was subsequently aired on BBC One. It was received well be audience and critics alike; ‘Tim Renkow has created a Larry David for a new generation‘ – ★★★★ The Guardian. JERK was quickly recommissioned for a second series, which Tim co-wrote with Shaun Pye, starred in and associate produced; series two aired in BBC One in August 2021 to further critical acclaim.

In November 2020 Tim was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough UK artist for his work as a writer-performer, the initiative identifies outstanding individuals in their craft who have had a breakthrough year in the British TV industry.

Tim was nominated for Breakthrough Act at the RTS Awards 2020 JERK won the Representation of Disability, Scripted Award at The Diversify TV Excellence Awards 2019.

Born in Mexico City and raised in North Carolina, Tim moved to London from the United States at the age of 22 to study creative writing and promptly started performing stand-up comedy, through which he found a platform to display his thoughts on the world. He’s taken 5 one man shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, AT LEAST HELL HAS RAMPS; KIM JONG-UN, MUHAMMAD, JESUS AND OTHER POWER HUNGRY MANIACS; KING OF THE TRAMPS and TIM RENKOW HAS ACCEPTED SATAN AS LORD AND SAVIOUR  earned him the Leicester Square Best Newcomer Award, The Amused Moose Comedy Award and a Chortle Best Newcomer nomination.

Following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2018, Tim’s 5th live show TIM RENKOW TRIES TO PUNCH DOWN transferred to the Soho Theatre for a limited run in April 2019.
