Sav Akyüzis an award winning Picture Book Illustrator, Author and acclaimed Storyboard Artist of almost 2000 commercials - drawing everything from Porsches to potatoes, Depp to Pitt and Ronaldo to supermarket roundels. He has worked with award winning director’s such as Tom Hooper, Tarsem Singh, Terry Gilliam and Harry Bradbeer and on many memorable campaigns, such as the John Lewis 2013 Christmas film, ‘The Bear and The Hare’. Sav has also served time as a visual effects artist on numerous feature films; enjoyed an unforgettable term at the Muppets’ legendary ‘Jim Henson’s Creature Shop’; sweated as a cloth layer-upper for famous Brit brands Burberry and Aquascutum; and, perhaps most proudly of all, peddled 99 Flake’s and Funny Feet from an ice-cream van outside the Tate Britain. After all the toil, sweat and melted ice-cream, the sketcher of other people’s stories turned his attention to creating children’s books; winning the prestigious Renaissance Award for Best Primary School Book with his debut, ‘I am Bear’, in 2019. He’s also appeared on Blue Peter, Author’s Live with BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 3. He frequently tours schools and literary festivals around the UK and abroad and was recently named the ‘Patron of Reading for Hackney Schools’.
