Biography
Steen Raskopoulos is an Australian comedian, actor and improviser.
Steen has been writing and performing in sketch comedy and improvised stage shows since he was eighteen, beginning his comedy career at The University of Sydney. While completing a Performance Studies degree, Steen performed in the University’s weekly Theatresports program and various sketch comedy revues. At age twenty, Steen was crowned the youngest ever Theatresports National Champion of Australia.
After graduating, Steen headed to Chicago to study improvisation at iO. In 2013 Steen’s debut solo sketch show Bruce SpringSTEEN LIVE IN CONCERT! received a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and won the same category at the Sydney Comedy Festival.
In 2014, a second solo show, I’m Wearing Two Suits Because I Mean Business sold-out seasons in Melbourne, Sydney, London and Edinburgh and was nominated for the Fosters Comedy Awards Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 2015 was a big year for Steen – he filmed the BBC Three comedy Top Coppers, starring as the lead character John Mahogany alongside John Kearns, Rich Fulcher, Simon Farnaby, Danny John-Jules and James Fleet. His third live solo show Character Assassin earned Steen a Barry Award nomination for best show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and he performed in both the Melbourne All Stars Gala and the Just For Laughs Gala at the Sydney Opera House.
In addition to Top Coppers, Steen was the star of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Australia. He has also appeared on the ABC’s Squinters, Utopia, The Code, The Record and This is Littleton and Legally Brown for SBS. He also wrote and starred in his Halloween short Scare Bnb for SKY.
Currently, he can be seen on Netflix’s latest original series Feel Good and appears in ABC’s satirical lifestyle program At Home Alone Together. He also stars as Katherine Ryan’s boyfriend Evan in her Netflix series, The Duchess.
