For the first time in 30 years, EARLY DAYS is playing in London at the Finborough Theatre. Directed by Tim Newns and starring Simon Molloy as Kitchen.
Kitchen has a lot of excuse for behaving badly. Suffering from dementia and, unable to care for himself, he s trapped in his daughter’s house under constant surveillance by his loving but suffocating family.
“…. an elegaic play and a quietly touching portrayal of of the bafflement of old age………… directed by Tim Newns in celebration of the Author’s forthcoming 80th birthday and it is a worthy tribute ………………..” Giles Cole What’sOn Stage
“Not for nothing has the Playwright been described as an English Chekhov. This sliver of a play, small in construction but big in heart, transposes some of the poetic realism of the great Russian writer to an English country garden in the 1970s……… a master of dramatising the unsaid….” Lyn Gardner The Guardian
