Joe Allen is a versatile and dynamic performer with a strong background in both stage and screen. He is currently playing ‘Mr D’ inThe Lightening Thief: The Percy Jackson Musicalat The Other Palace in London. He previously showcased his talents in the West End production ofThe Rocky Horror Show, taking on the roles of Eddie and Dr. Scott under the direction of Christopher Luscombe. Prior to that, he was an original cast member ofCharlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he played Oompa DJ/Mr. Gloop and understudied the role of Augustus, directed by the acclaimed Sam Mendes.
His work with the Royal Shakespeare Company includes notable performances inThe Rover(Stephano/Dionysius),The Two Noble Kinsmen(Mars), andThe Seven Acts of Mercy(Jimmy) a new play written by Anders Lustgarten. Other theatre credits includeLittle Shop of Horrors(Ensemble, U/S Mr. Mushnik) at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and the National Tour of Murray Lachlan Young’sThe Mystery of Raddlesham Mumps(The Mute).
On screen, Joe has appeared in the NBC production ofThe Grinchas Dr Seuss’ Thing 1, and in the popular filmMamma Mia: Here We Go Again!as a Fisherman.
