Anjana Appachana is a novelist and short story author. Her first book,Incantations & Other Stories,was published in 1991. The story in her novelListening Nowcontinues in her latest book,Fear and Lovely. Her short stories have been included in several anthologies, includingMirrorwork, a collection edited by Salman Rushdie and Elizabeth West. Appachana has received an O. Henry Festival Award and a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship. She splits her time between the United States and India.
