Biography

Shadi Hamta is a Writer/Director. 

Shadi’s original comedy-drama pilot, BLUE ANIMALS, received special praise at the Thousand Films New Writers Competition 2019 held by Sid Gentle Films. She was also shortlisted for the 4stories Scheme at Channel 4 Talent with her TV pilot script CREATION. 

Shadi was part of the Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab, developing her original play, LALI, and is a previous participant on the Royal Court Writers’ programme. She was also a writer on GIRLS CAN’T SHOOT (& OTHER LIES) for Mark Gordon Pictures, an anthology series with an all-star cast based on Don’t Wear Pink (and Other Lies), curated by Scarlett Curtis. Most recently, she was part of the writers rooms for the second season of Joe Cornish’s series, LOCKWOOD & CO, for Netflix/Complete Fiction, and is also developing comedy drama, THE FAKE-UP, with Calamity Films.

On the feature side, she’s currently in development for her original rom-com feature, THE GO BACK, with Mark Gordon Pictures.

Prior to working as a writer, she worked as a freelance script editor and reader for Monumental Pictures, Studio Canal and Working Title and has a BA in Creative Writing from UEA.
