Richard Stoddard

Richard is currently in post as lead director on series five of Calamity Films and Sky hit comedy BRASSIC, having directed episodes on series four; episode four of which was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru Award. Prior to directing, Richard previously worked as Director of Photography on every series of BRASSIC to date. 

Richard began work in 2011, as Director of Photography on supernatural drama BEING HUMAN before moving on to his first feature project, RIGHT BEHIND YOU, directed by Gareth Bryn for S4C Wales. Since then, Richard has worked on numerous projects including feature films JUST JIM (2015), THE PASSING (2015) for which he won a BAFTA Cymru award for Best Photography & Lighting, BLISS (2016), SOMETIMES ALWAYS NEVER (2018), OPEN (2021) and SHEPHERD (2021) for which he won Best Cinematography Award at the Porto International Film Festival in Portugal. 

Richard’s DoP credits for television are extensive and include HINTERLAND (2013), for which he won a BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Photography & Lighting, as well as SILENT WITNESS (2017), VERA (2017), BANCROFT (2017), and multiple episodes of DOCTOR WHO (2015/2017) including the 2017 Christmas special, and the final two episodes of THE LAZARUS PROJECT season 1 (2022).
