Nigel Slater

Nigel Slater is a cook who writes.  The author of a collection of best-selling books and presenter of nine BBC television series, he has been food columnist for the Observer for over thirty years and, in 2012, was named Food Personality of the Year at the Observer Food Monthly Awards.  His books include GreenFeast, which was published in two parts, Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, The Christmas Chronicles, the classic Appetite, the critically acclaimed two-volume Tender, The Kitchen Diaries I, II and A Year of Good Eating: The Kitchen Diaries III and the award-winning Eat – The Little Book of Fast Food.

His award-winning memoir Toast: The Story of a Boy’s Hunger won six major awards and is now a BBC film starring Helena Bonham Carter and Freddie Highmore. Toast has also been adapted for stage by Henry Filloux-Bennett and directed by Jonnie Riordan. The adaptation was performed at The Lowry in Salford, the Traverse Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe and The Other Palace theatre in London until late 2019, before it toured theatres around the country.
