Biography
Nicola Stephenson first came to prominence as a teenager playing ‘Margaret Clemence’ in Channel 4’s beloved and long-running Brookside. The landmark character was notable for UK televisions first pre-watershed lesbian kiss in 1994 and the kiss was included as part of the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. She has been a regular face on British screens ever since. Most recent television work includes critically acclaimed dark ITV dramas The Long Shadow, Maternal and The Walk-In, as well as the BBC’s hugely popular Father Brown, Call the Midwife and Midsomer Murders. She is well known for playing regular characters in several long running TV classics such as Holby, (BBC) Emmerdale (ITV) and Waterloo Road (BBC) and has also played series leads in critically acclaimed dramas like Clocking Off ( BBC) Safe House (ITV) and Homefront (ITV). As well as much loved comedy performances in shows such as Christmas Lights (ITV), Dead Man Weds (ITV) and The Worst Witch (BBC)
Nicola is an accomplished stage performer who has starred in War Horse (West End), Stepping Out (West End and Theatre Royal Bath), A Patriot for Me (Royal Shakespeare Company), Edmund ( National Theatre) His Girl Friday (National Theatre).

Nicola can currently be seen in the highly anticipated, phone hacking ITV drama, The Hack, directed by Lewis Arnold.
Currently, Nicola is filming for the upcoming series, The Siege, in the role Doreen.
