Biography
Nicola Johnson is a former BBC Broadcast Journalist, now a professional genealogist, writer and presenter. She specialises in British family history, and maritime and Titanic history, writes regularly for Who Do You Think You Are? and Family Tree, and is a frequent speaker on her subjects. She holds a Masters with distinction in Genealogical, Palaeographic & Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde.
In 2026 she won the British Commission for Maritime History Prize for her original genealogical and archive research work on Titanic families.
Nicola is currently working on her first book, a narrative non-fiction account of Titanic families. She lives in Southampton with her two sons, who have learned not to put the Titanic film on in her presence, on account of her shouting at the screen.
