Melitta Breznik was born in Austria in 1961. She studied medicine and has been working as a general practitioner and psychiatrist ever since. Her writing career began in 1995 with NACHTDIENST, which was translated into several languages. Since then, Luchterhand/RH has published FIGUREN (1998), DAS UMSTELLFORMAT (2002), NORDLICHT (2009) and DER SOMMER HAT LANGE AUF SICH WARTEN LASSEN (2013).
Melitta's new novel, DER TOD MEINER MUTTER, is forthcoming from Luchterhand.
