Biography

Matthew Cottle is a versatile British actor known for his extensive work across stage, television, film, and radio. A graduate of RADA, he has built a distinguished career with leading directors and theatre companies.

On stage, Cottle has appeared in major productions at the National Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, the Menier Chocolate Factory, and in the West End, taking on roles ranging from Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story to standout performances in Habeas Corpus, Communicating Doors, Quartermaine’s Terms, and multiple Alan Ayckbourn plays.

Cottle is also widely recognised for his television roles, including recurring characters in The Windsors, Citizen Khan, Man Down, The Responder, Bridgerton, Outlander, and Defending the Guilty. His screen career includes collaborations with directors such as Danny Boyle, Armando Iannucci, and Richard Eyre.
