Martyn’s feature film adaptation from his own play, MRS LOWRY AND SON, will soon be released in the UK and it was produced by Genesius and directed by Adrian Noble. His BBC 4 television screenplay, FANTABULOSA! starring Michael Sheen, which chronicles the life of much adored English comedian and actor, Kenneth Williams was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Single Drama.

As well as working on a number of highly acclaimed BBC award winning single dramas such as A SMALL MOURNING, winner of Radio Times Drama Award, starring Alison Steadman, BRAZEN HUSSIES starring Julie Walters and Robert Lindsay, and A LITTLE BIT OF LIPPY starring Kenneth Cranham, Martyn has a particular specialisation in adaptations. These include NICHOLAS NICKLEBY starring Charles Dance, Pam Ferris and Tom Hollander, ITV 1 (Company Pictures). DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE starring John Hannah and David Warner, Sky Movies (Clerkenwell Films/Working Title/Universal Pictures). THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP starring Derek Jacobi, Toby Jones, Zoe Wannamaker, Gina McKee and Martin Freeman, ITV 1 (Carnival Pictures).

He has also written episodes of CORONATION STREET and his first radio play MRS LOWRY AND SON, about the painter L.S. Lowry, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in May 2012, which he then adapted for the stage and its run at the Trafalgar Studios in Autumn 2013 received excellent reviews.

Outstanding... MRS LOWRY AND SON, sliding from comically mundane chat towards poetic lyricism – develops into a finely detailed, psychologically complex, double-portrait."

(Kate Bassett, The Times, Critics' Pick)

Martyn was shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize for his theatre play, MOTHERS DAY (Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester). His play SOMEWHERE CLOSE ALWAYS was shortlisted for the Papatango New Writing Festival at the Finborough Theatre.

Martyn’s BBC Radio 4 play, TITTLE TATTLE, starring Adam Godley and Marcia Warren was broadcast in April 2014 and Martyn has also completed another BBC Radio 4 play, FRANKIE TAKES A TRIP, about the comedian, Frankie Howerd.

His stage play, THE GLASS SUPPER,  had a successful run at Hampstead Theatre and starred Michael Begley, Michael Feast, Michelle Collins, Owen Sharpe and Alex Lawther.

His current projects include DANNY LA RUE, a film about the legendary female impersonator, for Leopard Films and the BFI, with Adrian Noble attached as director.
