Biography
Luisa Plaja (pronounced ‘playa’ like the Spanish for ‘beach’) grew up in Sicily and Greater London with two languages and at least two cultures. She has lived in lots of places, including Boston, USA and all over England, and she currently lives in Devon with her family. She has a degree in Linguistics and has worked in lexicography, television subtitling and linguistic software engineering. As a teenager she sold photo love stories to magazines, and she has never lost her passion for teenage fiction. When she isn’t reading, writing or looking after her two young children, she can be found editing the teen fiction review site Chicklish (http://www.chicklish.co.uk).

They incorporate a large font size and text separated into bite-sized chunks, along with carefully considered letter and paragraph spacing that can reduce visual stress. The series has plenty of practice at one level, allowing consolidation of learning before moving on to more challenging reads.
