Les Dennis is one of the UK’s best known entertainers.

Born in Liverpool, he came to prominence as a comedian in the 1970s after honing his craft on the northern Working Men’s Club circuit and turning pro after a winning set on OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS.  He became a stalwart of Saturday Night TV,  in the 80s and 90s starring in TV comedies including THE RUSS ABBOT SHOW and THE LES DENNIS LAUGHTER SHOW performing sketches and impressions, and most famously as the host of FAMILY FORTUNES between 1987 and 2002 on ITV.

For the last decade he has focused on his career as an actor, building up an extensive list of leading credits on tour and in the West End, including Amos Hart in CHICAGO, Wilbur Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY, and Bill Snibson in ME & MY GIRL.  His one-man play JIGSY, a darkly comic drama about an ageing stand-up comedian played at the Assembly Rooms on the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012, earning Les a Best Actor award at the LDP Arts Awards, and a stack of 4 and 5 star reviews from the national press.

As a TV actor, he has played leading roles in dramas such as MIDSOMER MURDERS and HOLBY CITY, and in comedies including playing “himself” in Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant’s show EXTRAS quite literally laying himself bare, and giving one of the most excruciatingly brilliant performances of the Golden Globe winning series.  In 2011 he reunited with Gervais and Merchant for LIFE’S TOO SHORT alongside Warwick Davies for BBC/HBO.

Recently Les was in the West End playing the lead role of King Arthur in SPAMALOT, and impressing the judges with his culinary skills as a finalist on CELEBRITY MASTERCHEF on BBC1.

Last year he played Uncle Fester in the UK Tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY.

He recently appeared in THE MIRACLE OF GREAT HOMER STREET at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre and is currently appearing in END OF THE PIER at the Park Theatre, for which he's been nominated for an Offie for 'Best Male in a Play'.
