Biography
Joe Marcantonio is a critically-acclaimed writer and director, based in London, whose work has been praised for its cinematic visual approach and exceptional performances.
His debut feature-film was psychological thriller KINDRED, starring Jack Lowden (DUNKIRK, CALIBRE), Fiona Shaw (KILLING EVE, HARRY POTTER) and Tamara Lawrance (SMALL AXE, THE LONG SONG), with both Fiona and Tamara receiving BIFA and BAFTA Scotland nominations respectively for their performances. Sky Cinema released in the UK/Ireland with IFC handling a US release theatrically before an SVOD release on HULU.
His next feature as co-writer and director will be the revenge-thriller UNCLE starring Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, with West End Films handling worldwide sales.
Joe’s work has played at Cannes, Tallinn Black Nights, San Francisco and the Edinburgh Film festival and his last four short projects have all been selected for Vimeo Staff Picks. The last of these Staff Picks was RED LIGHT, a short film starring Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley (LOST DAUGHTER, WILD ROSE) and Martin McCann (CALIBRE, THE SURVIVALIST).
