Biography
Jason has written on the first and second season of Avalon’s SPITTING IMAGE with showrunner Jeff Westbrook. He has collaborated with Sacha Baron Cohen and Asim Chaudry; co-wrote CUNK ON LIFE which has been nominated for best writing at the Emmy Awards in 2025 and wrote one episode of the PADDINGTON animated TV series for Crescent Productions. Jason is developing a limited sereis based on Baxter Dury’s autobiography with Various Artists Limited and a show based on Bill Bryson’s A SHORT HISTORY OF NEARLY EVERYTHING with Altitude.
With co-writer Joel Morris, Jason was part of the writers’ room on both PADDINGTON and PADDINGTON 2 for Heyday/StudioCanal and they wrote the 5-part series CUNK ON EARTH (Broke and Bones/Netflix), CUNK AND OTHER HUMANS and CUNK ON BRITAIN (House of Tomorrow/BBC), having previously written the 30′ specials CUNK ON CHRISTMAS and CUNK ON SHAKEPSEARE, based on the character of Philomena Cunk who first appeared in Charlie Brooker’s End of Year Wipe. Jason works extensively with Charlie and were part of the writing team behind critically lauded A TOUCH OF CLOTH (Sky1) and END OF YEAR WIPE (BBC). Jason and Joel co-created musical sitcom THE MIDNIGHT BEAST for E4 and are the creators and writers of the phenomenally succesful LADYBIRD BOOKS FOR GROWN-UPS, which have sold more than 5 million copies.

Jason Hazeley is a BAFTA, Broadcast and Bookseller award winning writer.
He is the co-creator of the Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups series, which have sold 7.2m copies to date, and spoof local newspaper The Framley Examiner, which has not sold 7.2m copies to date.
For the screen, he has written for living legends Philomena Cunk and Paddington Bear, along with well-known fictional characters like Miranda Hart and Charlie Brooker.
