James was selected for the Channel 4 Screenwriting Scheme and was a finalist on Coming Up. Since then he has developed projects with Ridley Scott's Scott Free, Addictive Pictures, ITV Studios and Channel 4, and is currently writing a feature film with Screen Scotland's Scottish Film Talent Network. In September 2019, he won the BAFTA/Rocliffe New Writing Competition for his family script, THE MINISTRY OF UMBRELLAS.
