Fathiya Saleh

Comedian / Writer / Actor

Biography

Fathiya is a stand‑up comedian, writer, actor and producer whose charming, confident and refreshingly honest comedy has made her a fast‑rising presence on the UK circuit. Described by Chortle as “an absolute delight,” her work draws on cultural identity, family life and the everyday contradictions of growing up in modern Britain.

Born and raised in North West London to a Somali mother and Yemeni father, Fathiya offers a clear, distinctive perspective that has resonated strongly with audiences. She has performed at Latitude Festival and internationally in Belgium, Sweden and Riyadh. She was a Funny Women finalist and joined the BBC Comedy Asian Network in the same year. She has since featured in the Comedy Queen’s sold‑out UK tour, performing at major venues including Indigo at The O₂ Greenwich.

Fathiya has been part of the writers’ rooms for the BBC Three reboot Bad Education and CBBC’s Horrible Science. She opened several nights at Soho Theatre for international comic Zainab Johnson and recently sold out her own work‑in‑progress show at The Glitch.

She was highlighted in Dua Lipa’s Service95 as one of “5 Artists Bringing A Fresh Perspective To The Comedy Scene,” and described as “one of the most underrated yet exciting performers on London’s live stand‑up scene.”

Alongside comedy, she has appeared in the short film Where To by Jill Worsley and co‑wrote and starred in the play I Remember as part of Somali Week. This summer, Fathiya will star in SideEye Productions’ comedic play How to Be Famous… When Your Parents Don’t Have a Wikipedia Page at the Pleasance Theatre.

She is currently working as an assistant producer on the comedy podcast Hanging Out with Ant & Dec and is performing several works‑in‑progress with plans to take a show to the Edinburgh Fringe.
