Biography
Denis is a children’s book illustrator, based in Sofia, Bulgaria, who sometimes also writes. In his illustration style he mostly works with bold expressive lines, wonky shapes, limited palettes and subtle painterly textures. He’s addicted to buying art materials, and mostly works in mixed media just so he can use up said materials. He studied Art Education and Pedagogy in Sofia University, which allowed him to try his hand at drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Before he became a children’s book illustrator he worked as a graphic designer in an advertising agency where he was asked to “make the logo bigger” at least once a day. Nowadays, when he’s not working, you can find him travelling and exploring quieter, picturesque towns. He also loves a good indie or folk playlist and can spend hours looking for his favourite record.
