Claire Fowler

Claire is a Welsh writer-director working in film and TV in both the UK and USA. She directed on the final season of MANIFEST for Netflix, and was selected for the Sundance screenwriters and directors labs for her feature script TOAD. 

Claire has been a shadow director on Showtime’s HOMELAND and FX’s POSE. Her career started with prize-winning human-rights documentaries, and moved on to fiction filmmaking after attending Columbia University’s MFA Film program with a Fulbright scholarship. Films have screened at multiple film festivals including Tribeca, London, Palm Springs, and Rotterdam, and are featured on Nowness and Vimeo Staff Pick where they have been viewed over half a million times.

Her most recent short, Salam, has screened at over 200 film festivals and won ten awards including a BAFTA. She has participated in the final Warner Bros Director’s Program, Ryan Murphy HALF directing Initiative, the Sony TV director’s program and the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. In 2019 she directed all eight episodes of a newly commissioned BBC Wales/S4C digital-series for S4C’s new online platform.
