Ben Hillman is a Property Super Hero! Self builder, Designer, Renovator and Smart Home expert.

An Interiors, Product and Furniture designer best known for his entertaining and engaging presenting style on Channel 4's 'A Place in the Sun'. Ben is a hands on guy as happy mucking in on the building site or in the workshop as he is creating design schemes on his Mac. This instinct compels him to redesign and reconfigure every home he visits, not resting easy until spaces have been tamed and work harmoniously with their owners. “A poorly functioning home is like being stuck in a bad relationship, its plain unhealthy”, says Ben.

The current completion of a 7 month remodel of his own home has seen him design and project manage, as well as custom build fitted furniture. An advocate of Smart Home Technology, he has embraced this to the full working alongside companies such as Nest, Philips Hue, Yale and Lightwave among others to turn his tired 1930s semi into a Smart Home fit for the future. The project saw the entire ground floor removed and the upper floors suspended on steels as he created a fully automated home which at the same time reflects the buildings heritage.

The Smart Home project follows on from Ben’s critically acclaimed self build project in the heart of Brighton, facelifting a tired 1970's purpose built block of flats and adding a new penthouse apartment in a daring sky high build.

In 2010 Ben won ITV's nationwide search for 'The Next Big Thing' in Interior design. Shortlisted by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Michelle Ogundehin (Elle Decoration), Ben presented a series of Interior Design features on 'This Morning' where he taught the nation how to adapt and upcycle furniture to create unique and individual living spaces, and ultimately achieve a little bling without the sting.

Ben has filmed three series of 'The Renovation Game' for Channel 4 as well as 'You Deserve This House', three series of '60 Minute Makeover' with Peter Andre and ‘Auction Party’ with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, before his return to Channel 4 with A Place in the Sun. He is also an ambassador for Black and Decker and is the presenter for B&Q's Youtube channel (bandq).

With an affinity for all things home Ben studied Product & Furniture Design at Ravensbourne College where he had early success designing and launching F-LUX lighting, one of the worlds first portable LED lights and prototyping furniture designs with Conran partnership. Ben cut his teeth in the Interiors world where he worked as Assistant Interiors Editor for Wallpaper* Magazine.
