Azhur Saleem

Azhur Saleem is a director trained at the London Film School. His short film MUSE led to his first television commission, directing the finale of DOCTOR WHO: FLUX (BBC One), following 2nd Unit work on BAGHDAD CENTRAL (Channel 4/Hulu).

He has since directed two episodes of ANANSI BOYS (Amazon Studios), including the series finale; the full first series of AFTER THE FLOOD (ITV), returning for the opening block of series two; and a block on OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD season one (Sony/Starz/MGM+), before being asked back to direct five episodes of season two, including the premiere.

A filmmaker with a strong visual sensibility and a passion for world-building, Azhur is drawn to large-scale genre storytelling where cinematic ambition and character are inseparable. He is as comfortable with complex action, VFX and production design as he is with performance and drama, and brings the same rigour to both.

He is known for sets where collaboration runs deep and people do their best work, and has been rehired by the same producers and showrunners across multiple projects.

He also develops original work, drawn to genre storytelling that carries cultural specificity beneath the surface: work that entertains first, and resonates later.
