Audrey Sheffield

Director

Biography

Audrey is an award-winning UK and international freelance director, specialising in new writing, and committed to making work that is rigorous, imaginatively ambitious, and emotionally truthful.

She was selected as a Finalist Best Director for the Off-West End Awards, an Old Vic 12 Director, and a recipient of a Michael Grandage Company Futures Bursary. She was also nominated for the Arts Foundation Award.

She trained with Sam Kogan in London and Moscow, and through further directing programmes and invited workshops at the National Theatre Studio, Young Vic, RSC and with Peter Brook. 

As a director, Audrey’s made work at the Royal Court, National Theatre, Young Vic, Almeida, Kiln, Old Vic, Hampstead and the English Theatre Frankfurt. 

Associate directing includes collaborations with Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, Ian Rickson, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Rupert Goold, Patrick Marber, Mark Ravenhill and Elizabeth LeCompte. 

Audrey was recently selected to train as a voice director for video games, and alongside theatre direction, she’s since worked regularly at Side and Liquid Violet on numerous acclaimed indie and AAA games too. 

She has multiple citizenship and holds a US and an EU passport.
