Reviews for THE WAVES

“Riding the play’s emotional swells and breaks … Ria Zmitrowicz as Rhoda and Archie Backhouse as Louis in The Waves, Jermyn Street theatre” “uncrackable chemistry between the cast of six” “And while each character has a defining trait, performances swerve caricature. Archie Backhouse’s brilliantly drawn Louis, for instance, is the group’s ambitious striver but is also insecure, resigned.” The Guardian ★★★★

“Lonely wistful Louis (Archie Backhouse)” “The acting is pin-sharp and unified throughout, the ensemble work exemplary” The Stage  ★★★★

‘Archie Backhouse gives us a beautifully grounded portrayal of the every “Man”, nailing every comic beat with expert subtlety.’ London Theatre Reviews ★★★★

‘It’s hilarious to watch (to his horror, she calls cyclists, but painful too, because Thomas and Blackhouse have a genuine chemistry that glues them uncomfortably together, long after he should have stormed off home.’ ★★★★ Evening Standard
