Andy is the Founder of award-winning indie production company Doc Hearts, known for producing high-end content, especially TV that authentically represents diverse communities with nuance and heart. Andy is a BAFTA- and RTS-winning director and producer whose credits include the critically acclaimed ‘White Nanny, Black Child’ (Channel 5/BFI), ‘Jimmy Akingbola: Handle With Care’ (ITV/Peacock) and ‘Lenny Henry: The Commonwealth Kid’ (BBC1) and Everybody’s Game (Amazon) . From ‘Charlene White: Empire’s Child’ (ITV) and the BAFTA nominated ‘Battyman’ (C4) to the much lauded ‘The Fade’ (Netflix), Andy’s work has been highly praised for its documenting of diverse experience with depth and style.
After being a staffer at the BBC, Andy is the owner of numerous TV formats which have sold into multiple territories including ‘Go Green With The Grimwades’ (C5), ‘Reu & Harper’s Wonder World’ (C5), Flying Through History (A&E) , African Masters (The ‘The Black Lesbian Handbook’ (Channel 4), ‘Britain’s Abandoned Playgrounds’ (C4) and ‘What Did I Do Last Night?’
Andy was elected to the inaugural Board of the UK’s Documentary Film Council in 2024. An consistent RTS/ BAFTA and 2024’s Netflix Documentary Talent fund judge. He is also the recipient of a Commonwealth Broadcasting Award.
