Biography
Afsaneh Gray is a writer for stage, screen and audio of mixed Iranian/Jewish heritage.
Her credits for theatre include FISHVILLE (National Theatre Connections 2026), THE TASK (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts), EVERYWOMAN (The Bunker), THE BORDER (winner of the Brian Way Award 2018), and OCTOPUS (Edinburgh Fringe/Theatre503/national tour). She was recently on attachment at the National Theatre Studio and is currently under commission by the National Youth Theatre.
For TV, she has written on SHAKESPEARE & HATHAWAY: PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS (BBC), and was a regular writer on DOCTORS (BBC). Afsaneh was one of three selected writers for the development phase of the Independent Film Trust’s Elevate Writers Room. Her comedy drama SALTWELL was selected for development by the UK & Europe Writer’s Lab 2025, and her comedy LULU THE EXTREMIST was developed as part of the UKTV Comedy 50:50 Scheme.
Afsaneh’s debut audio drama, an original thriller called THE OTHER WOMAN, is now available on Audible. Her series of BRITISH SCANDAL, about Jade Goody, is landing shortly.
