Rob Biddulph wins Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2015

Congratulations to Rob Biddulph who has won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2015 with his debut picture book BLOWN AWAY.

After first triumphing in the Best Illustrated Book category, Rob then beat off stiff competition from Robin Stevens's MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE and Sally Green's HALF BAD (winners in the Best Younger Fiction and Best Fiction for Teenagers categories, respectively) to win the overall prize.

The prize, now in its eleventh year, champions new and emerging children's writers and illustrators.

Head of judges and the Head of Children's Buying at Waterstones, Melissa Cox, said: “The test of a good picture book is not how good it is on first reading, but how enjoyable it is on its fiftieth. Blown Away more than delivers – its whimsical, madcap plot engages immediately and its rhythmic text drives the story along while the illustrations charm and thrill on every page. It is truly wonderful, and a very worthy winner.”
