MEDEA opens at the National

Carrie Cracknell’s new production of MEDEA has now opened at the National Theatre, in a new version by Ben Power, with sound design by Gregory Clarke and an ensemble cast including Jane Wymark.

Marking the National’s first production of the play, it also launches this year’s Travelex season and will play in the Olivier until 4th September (tickets here).

Carrie Cracknell's version is a tragic force to be reckoned with…

…The virtue of this production and Ben Power's new version is that they avoid quasi-operatic grandeur to present us with a recognisable human being who is alive with contradictions.
Guardian ****

this horribly gripping, scrupulously judicious modern-dress production…

…the lean, mean new version is by Ben Power
Independent ****

Ben Power’s translation has a stark eloquence without an ounce of fat on it…

…thrilling and merciless production
Telegraph ****

Carrie Cracknell’s production is pacy and direct
