Michael Kinirons is an Irish screenwriter and director. He studied English and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, earned a Masters Degree in Film from University College Dublin, and went on to study directing at the National Film and Television School, (NFTS) London. He furthered his training through ‘Script & Pitch’ at the TorinoFilmLab and was selected for the 2009 Berlinale Talent Campus.
Michael first produced feature as a screenwriter, STRANGERLAND is an Australian set mystery drama, starring Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Fiennes. The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
His script COME MONDAY, WE KILL THEM ALL, a noir thriller set against the backdrop of the Irish revolution, won the Irish Film Board’s Untitled scheme and made the 2014 Britlist.
The EAVE and LES ARCS selected project WE WATCHED THE SUN DISAPPEAR, a psychological survival thriller set in Greenland in 1899, is scheduled to shoot in early 2018. Jonas Arnby (WHEN ANIMALS DREAM) will direct.
As a director, Michael’s five short films have each had successful runs on the international festival circuit with LOWLAND FELL winning the Special Jury Prize at the Seattle Int’l Film Festival in 2009 among other awards.
For his feature directorial debut, Michael is developing THE CELLIST, a psychological mystery drama about the extraordinary lengths a grieving mother goes to fill the void following her son’s suicide.

I CAN'T SEE YOU ANYMORE was selected for the Cork, Foyle, Galway, Seattle and Palm Springs Festivals. The film was the winner of the ALEXA TAKE competition run by Arri in conjunction with Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.
