Kathy is a food writer, supper club host, cookery teacher and private chef who grows her own ingredients.
Her life in food began after 12 years as a brand strategist for London advertising agencies, where the fun had been had and the rat race was taking its toll. Kathy quit. With no idea what to do next.
But rural life beckoned and, unemployed, she spent her time indulging her love of growing and cooking her own food and began her award-winning blog, Gluts & Gluttony, documenting all the gluts she was getting in her patch and the ensuing gluttony in the kitchen.
Enthused by life as a writing cook she retrained at Ashburton Chef School and got a job growing vegetables at Daylesford organic farm in Kingham, Gloucestershire and subsequently in their cookery school and restaurant by day.
By night, she began hosting supper clubs and cooking privately for locals’ dinner parties with all the menus dictated by what was available in her allotment.
3 years and several placements later (at places like River Cottage), Kathy had met her business partner, Mandy, and left Daylesford to go full-time on G&G. Together they run a business offering private chef services, cookery classes and supper clubs in unusual places (the gin distillery was a night to remember). All their food celebrates seasonal, home grown ingredients – no foams, frills or frippery, just beautiful simple food that Kathy has nurtured from plot to plate.
Kathy is a member of The Guild of Food Writers. She continues to write the blog and also writes for food media in print and online such as Crumbs, .delicious, The Huffington Post, Healthista and AO.com.
She teaches regular cookery classes from her home in the Cotswolds and in people’s homes. She also presents cookery demonstrations and classes at numerous festivals such as Wilderness, Big Feastival, Taste of London, Grand Designs, regional food festival and for brands such as AEG.
Kathy is 38 and lives in the Cotswolds with her husband, Paul, and their English Springer Spaniel, Hadleigh.
