Emerald Fennell is an actress, novelist and screenwriter. Best known for her leading role as Patsy Mount in CALL THE MIDWIFE, additional acting credits include roles in C4 sitcom CHICKENS and feature films ANNA KARENINA and ALBERT NOBBS.

Her first novel, SHIVERTON HALL, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize in 2014, and was quickly followed by a sequel, THE CREEPER. Her most recent book MONSTERS was released in September 2015. William Boyd, writing for the New Statesman, called it “a tremendous, destabilising work of fiction, infusing the mundane with eerie and unsettling darkness. It is written, moreover, in a remarkable tone of voice: Roald Dahl meets Muriel Spark. Astonishing”, and the Financial Times likened it to “a mash-up of CARRIE and BLUEBEARD with a touch of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO… (it’s) smart, modern and fresh”.
